Hello, world

Back in 1996, a young guy by the name of Eldrick Woods announced that he was going to become a professional golfer. You probably know him better as Tiger Woods, the name that he officially took on a couple of years later, and when he made the announcement, the commercials introducing him to the world had the catchphrase “Hello, World”. It was a pretty loud “hello”, given that Nike was one of the brands that was behind the media event. (Types the guy wearing a Nike golf shirt.)

Well, this morning, James Bergin and I had our own little version of “Hello World” as we appeared on Catholic Weekend, one of the many great podcasts on the SQPN network. As readers of The Soapbox probably saw earlier this week, The 15th Station, the podcast brother of The Soapbox, is now an affiliate of the international podcasting network. Granted, the number of people paying attention to our coming-out party was not quite the same as the number that watched Tiger’s introduction all those years ago, but we thought it was pretty cool :)

On Tuesday, The 15th Station will launch a new podcast as well, called The View from Down Here, which features yours truly with the Malone brothers — Brendan and Tim — talking about some of the big Catholic stories in the United States. An outsider’s view of some of the quirkiness that is life in the United States, if you will. Feel free to keep an eye on The 15th Station website to keep track of all the podcasts that are part of the Station 15 network.

Hello, world.
