The scenes from Rio de Janeiro have been pretty remarkable and in a few hours, it is possible that WYD 2013 will break the record set at WYD in the Philippines with some people predicting as many as 6 million people will gather on Copacabana Beach — now dubbed Popeacabana — for the final Mass of this year’s event.
During my appearance on Catholic Weekend last night (www.catholicweekend.sqpn.com) we got an on-the-ground report from Father Roderick on the events that have been unfolding and also got the gossip on where the next WYD will be held. Father Roderick told us that Krakow, Poland will host the next gathering in 2016, and other sources seem to concur on that prediction.
So, unless you read it elsewhere or have already watched Catholic Weekend, you heard it here first. In fact, by the time you read this, it will probably have been announced. Oh well, never mind. You read it here at some point in time.
